My travels to Peru was amazing—so much so that I'm going back later this year! What fascinated me was how much nature and beauty Peru holds, from it's culture to their beloved Alpacas and Llamas (yes there's a difference)
Just to name a few:
With the Alpacas in mind, visiting the Canzelle Alpaca Farm was a MUST. I made a nice sunny California day into a small day trip and headed to Carpenteria.
In just a little over 2 hours—no thanks to the Los Angeles traffic, I was in the calm County of Santa Barbara.
Getting to the farm was a little tricky, you'll need to pay attention to the signs a noted on directions , but you'll instantly spot the farm once you drive up the mountain as see the white fence (and Alpacas roaming around).
Upon arrival, the scenery is beautiful and clear—I do suggest you wear walking shoes and jeans or pants (you'll be walking around and on hay). A guide will meet you and the rest of the group outside of the red barn.
An interesting fact about the Canzelle Alpacas is that they have won top prestigious awards for their breed and fleece. The male alpaca, Kalahari is a prime example of their success.
The Alpacas come from different backgrounds, which include Peru and Chile.
